Stacked rinks plan missing something… like money
Toronto’s waterfront plans now include an estimated 88 million dollar, 4 level glass hockey arena. I’m not sure where we’re getting 88 million dollars to build a hockey arena for kids in a place kids don’t go, but there it is. It’s been likened to Sydneys Opera House.
Note that by the time it’s done, Jerry Agar figures it’s going to be about 2 years late and actually end up costing us about 150 million. Of course, that’s all thanks to our “fair wage” laws, which we’ll need to talk about another day.
Now Ottawa is fronting $34 million, and we can apparently take on an additional 30 year debt of about $21 million but we’re still missing a sizable chunk of cash.Over $30 million actually.
